The 2016 edition of the World Poker Tour will kick off in the Philippines next year from the 2nd to the 11th of January, based at the popular Solaire Resort and Casino. It is the second year in a row that the venue has hosted the competition, which comprises of a huge WPT main event and a range of side events, including a $200,000 buy-in Super High Roller event (the largest of its kind in WPT history).
The first day of the tournament will see the exciting Poker King Cup, a $50,000 guaranteed prize with a $275 buy-in. Day Two will host the start of the Super High Roller, which will have some of the world’s most experienced professional poker players going head to head with affluent, confident poker enthusiasts.
The Main Event formally begins on the 4th of December with a $1,500 buy-in. Other events on the schedule range from a $165 buy-in ladies event, to a $770 buy-in second chance tournament.The World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska has issued a warm statement for all prospective poker players taking part in the Philippines tournament, saying he looks “forward to welcoming some of the best poker players on tour to the Philippines, along with some of the world’s wealthiest enthusiasts”.
The first two days of the tournament will have at least six $180 buy-in satellite opportunities for players to win places at the WPT Main Event, with a host of other qualifying chances in single-table games also.
The WPT event is expected to see both local and international poker players showcasing their card skills and giving spectators an entertaining display of the best the poker world has to offer.
The Philippines is recognised as one of the leading poker destinations in Asia, and has been host to many professional competitions. Being a popular resort destination in Asia, Manila offers many hotel, dining and entertainment amenities, with the Solaire Resort being one of the most well-regarded. The Philippines is home to a number of professional and recreational poker players and traditionally has welcomed poker tournaments.
